MICROTONAL HARMONY AND EAR TRAINING

A vital element in the evolution of a musical language is the development of greater auditory pitch resolution and the awareness of subtle harmonic combinations, allowing us to ‘hear’, appreciate and create music in a more expansive way.



Initially, this site will provide:


  1. I.   microtonal melodic and intervallic ear training and perception

      exercises.





    introductory exercises in perception of interlaced primary and

    secondary harmonics.



  1. II.  harmonic gestalt discrimination - textures and combinations beyond

       the ‘in tune’ and ‘out of tune’ dualistic reductionism of current western

       pitch awareness.

        process.

        An auditory appreciation that is differentiated from a rudimentary
